In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of two senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to pivotal roles in the Government of India.
Shri Vivek Aggarwal, IAS (MP:94), has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Culture. Prior to this, he was serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance. A 1994-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Aggarwal brings with him a wealth of experience in public administration and fiscal affairs.

Meanwhile, Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, IAS (AM:94), has been appointed as Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Sinha was serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence. A distinguished officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, also from the 1994 batch, he is expected to play a key role in steering India’s civil aviation sector amid rapid growth and global connectivity challenges.

These high-level appointments reflect the Centre’s continued focus on placing experienced and capable officers in key positions to enhance governance and drive policy implementation. The reshuffle comes at a time when both the Culture and Civil Aviation ministries are handling crucial projects—ranging from heritage conservation and cultural promotion to expanding aviation infrastructure and air connectivity across the nation.
