Dear Readers,
September is always a significant month for India’s inbound tourism industry, as the fraternity comes together for one of its most anticipated annual gatherings — the IATO Convention. This year, the Convention travels to the scenic shores of Visakhapatnam, offering yet another opportunity for meaningful conversations, fresh ideas, networking and collective reflection on the road ahead for Indian tourism.
As the IATO Special Issue, this edition of BOTT brings together voices from across the Association. We have spoken to the IATO President, Office Bearers, Executive Committee Members and 20 Chapter Chairmen to understand their priorities, expectations and action plans for strengthening inbound tourism across the country. Their perspectives reflect both the opportunities before us and the work that still needs to be done to make India more competitive, accessible and visible in global markets.
We have also reached out to several inbound tourism veterans to explore India’s journey from potential to performance. Their insights underline a common sentiment — India has the product, diversity and experiences, but sustained marketing, stronger connectivity, better infrastructure and closer government-industry collaboration will be critical to converting promise into measurable growth.
Beyond IATO, this issue captures a particularly active period for the travel and hospitality industry. We bring you detailed coverage of WTC in Ahmedabad, ITB India in Mumbai, the FHRAI Convention in Varanasi and CIC — ICPB’s Conventions India Conclave in New Delhi. Each of these platforms brought the industry together to exchange ideas, build partnerships and strengthen business connections.
