According to the latest statistics released by the Tourism Department of Goa, the State recorded 46,39,165 arrivals between January and May, reflecting sustained demand from both domestic and international travellers and an overall growth of 0.39% over the corresponding period in 2025.
May 2026 delivered particularly encouraging results, with 9,69,090 visitors arriving in the State, marking a 4.53% increase over May 2025. Between January and May 2026, Goa recorded 44,37,018 domestic tourist arrivals and 2,02,147 foreign tourist arrivals. The sustained growth is noteworthy given the evolving global travel landscape and prevailing geopolitical uncertainties across several international markets. Despite these challenges, Goa continued to attract strong visitor interest, supported by robust connectivity, diversified tourism offerings and sustained destination confidence.
Reflecting on the continued growth, Minister for Tourism, Rohan A. Khaunte, said, “Goa’s tourism growth today is being driven by a combination of strong connectivity, diversified experiences and growing visitor confidence. While our beaches remain iconic, travellers are increasingly exploring Goa’s culture, heritage, spirituality, wellness offerings, hinterland experiences, festivals and culinary traditions. This broad-based growth is helping us build a more resilient tourism economy while ensuring that the benefits of tourism reach communities across the State.”
Domestic tourism remains a significant driver of overall arrivals, while international travel is being strengthened through enhanced air connectivity, charter operations and cruise tourism. Goa’s dual-airport infrastructure comprising Dabolim Airport and Manohar International Airport has expanded the State’s accessibility and widened its reach across both domestic and international markets.
Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik, said, “The steady growth recorded during the first five months of 2026 demonstrates the strength and adaptability of Goa’s tourism sector. Through focused destination development, improved connectivity and the promotion of varied tourism experiences, Goa is attracting visitors throughout the year and encouraging them to explore different facets of the destination. Our focus remains on enhancing visitor experiences while advancing responsible and sustainable tourism growth.”
With strong arrivals across both domestic and international segments, Goa enters the second half of 2026 from a position of momentum. The results recorded this year reflect the State’s commitment to building a tourism ecosystem that is inclusive, sustainable and positioned for long-term growth.
