What began with the opening of the HUGO BOSS factory outlet in Metzingen in 1972 has evolved into a world-class retail hub attracting visitors from across the globe.

The destination continues to attract a growing international audience, with India emerging as an increasingly important market. According to the latest tourism data received from German National Tourist Office, Germany recorded 928,635 overnight stays by Indian travellers in 2025 (January–December), representing a 3.4% growth compared to the previous year, highlighting the strong and sustained growth of the Indian outbound market. Reflecting this momentum, Outletcity Metzingen recorded a 7% increase in tax refund transactions from Indian visitors in 2025 compared to 2024, underscoring the rising shopping interest among Indian travellers visiting Germany.
Today, Outletcity Metzingen is home to more than 170 premium and luxury brands on-site and, through its omnichannel ecosystem that seamlessly integrates physical retail with its online shop, offers access to over 500 brands in total. Recognized as Europe’s largest outlet destination and the world’s first omnichannel outlet, Outletcity Metzingen took a major step in this digital evolution with the launch of the Outletcity online shop in 2012, reinforcing its pioneering role within the outlet industry.
Over the years, the destination has expanded its offerings to create a holistic lifestyle experience. The opening of Enzian Höfe introduced new retail categories such as Beauty and Home & Living, while the launch of the Moxy Hotel in 2023 further strengthened the destination by adding hospitality to the shopping experience. Shopping Nights (March 26–28 & April 24)
Guests can also enjoy extended shopping hours during the Late Night Shopping events on March 26–28 and April 24.
