In Delhi for a day to interact with the members of the travel fraternity and media, members of The Team TAFI – contesting for the upcoming elections had a clear vision for the future – if elected to power. Mr. Ajay Prakash, who has been associated with TAFI for a long time is once again contesting for the post of President. “Going forward we have four major goals in place for us. First is protection of agents from airlines’ failure; to work on the relationship between IATA – Agents and Airlines; to increase the membership base and increase the number of Active Members in the Association and lastly to inculcate a feeling of Responsible Tourism in not just our members but the entire travel community. In our team, we have elected members from pan India and we hope to address national as well as regional concerns of our member,” outlined Mr. Prakash.
An interesting and praiseworthy thing about these TAFI elections is the dignified manner in which it is being rolled out – no mudslinging, no blame game – just a clear focus on getting TAFI back in the game. “Associations today need to undergo a transition. We need to evolve into a lobby group and not work for individualistic interests – just like agents associations globally have done. Associations need to come together and act in the interest of the travel industry,” he added.
If elected, one of the first things that the new TAFI Team aims to do is to start communication with its members in an organised manner.
