Cirium, unveils the top 10 most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region in its 2024 On-Time Performance Review with Vietnam Airlines taking up the 6th place. The airline achieved a OTP rate of 76.7%, moving up three spots from 2023. The flag carrier continued to showcase its operational reliability on the world stage, alongside other leading airlines such as Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines.
Certain challenges persist in 2024 include ongoing global engine issues, supply chain disruptions, labor shortages and adverse weather. Despite these challenges, airlines and airports worldwide have made serious efforts to ensure safe, efficient and on-time operations.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), Vietnam Airlines scored a OTP rate of approximately 82% in 2024, far surpassing the national average of 73.7%.

To improve on-time performance in 2024, Vietnam Airlines implemented several measures, including rapidly expanding its fleet to enhance operational capacity, optimising aircraft maintenance checks, and adjusting flight schedules to improve overall efficiency, particularly in the afternoon and evening time slots.
Furthermore, Vietnam Airlines developed detailed contingency plans to respond to adverse weather. The airline proactively adjusted flight schedules at affected airports by unpredictable weather conditions to minimize delays and diversions. Passengers are regularly updated via email, SMS, phone calls, website, and social media.
Looking forward, Vietnam Airlines will continue to enhance its performance by incorporating technologies to improve on-time performance and deliver an exceptional passenger experience. These efforts aim to reinforce Vietnam’s position as a growing force in the global aviation industry.
