She added that if all goes well, the INR 100 crore grand heritage museum would be ready by 2023.
It would highlight the rich tradition and culture of Kashi, along with educating people about its history and glorious past. If reports are to go by, the tourism department is looking for a suitable antique mansion in Varanasi, where the heritage museum would come up.
The officials added that it would include the architecture, relics, documents, heritage, important facts of civilisations, and the history of ancient temples, among others. It would be a one-of-a-kind museum that would be designed to offer a virtual experience to the visitors, and will also have an audio-visual section to offer a better experience to the visitors.
In terms of museums, Varanasi has the Bharat Kala Bhawan at Ramnagar Fort Museum, another one which is situated inside Ramnagar Fort on the banks of river Ganges that features artifacts from the period of Maharajas, Hastkala Sankul, which is a must-visit for sure. Then there is also a crafts museum where visitors check out the history of Kashi’s handicrafts, and a virtual experiential museum, exhibiting things in a new digital method.
