The event will bring together heads of government agencies, representatives of the tourism industry, and international business corporations engaged in the sector from around 159 countries.
“Holding the General Assembly in Uzbekistan has the potential to open up new opportunities for raising the status of Uzbekistan in the international arena, and the country has expressed it is hoping to expand relations with international organisations and to promote its cultural and tourism potential”, said Ikboljon Soliev, Consular & First Secretary, Tourism and Education Section, Embassy of Uzbekistan in India.
The issues of international cooperation in the field of tourism will be discussed at panel sessions. Several other large-scale conferences will take place within the framework of the sessions of the 25th General Assembly.
During the event, UNWTO will also announce the Best Tourism Villages of the Year. Tourism villages from around the world will be selected that have a developed tourism sector that ensures development and prosperity in the area.
