The flavours of Bengal are set to arrive in Vijayawada as Food Exchange at Novotel Vijayawada Varun hosts a special Bengali Food Festival from August 21 to 25, 2026. Designed as a five-day culinary celebration, the festival brings together the warmth of Bengali home-style cooking, the nostalgia of Kolkata’s bustling food culture and a festive regional spread curated for local families, food lovers and weekend diners in the city.
For Vijayawada’s increasingly curious dining audience, the festival offers an opportunity to experience a cuisine known for its nuanced use of mustard, poppy seeds, coconut, fresh coriander, subtle spices and slow-cooked gravies. Rather than presenting Bengali food only as a regional speciality, Food Exchange is creating an accessible dining experience that introduces guests to familiar comfort flavours alongside distinctive East Indian preparations.
The specially curated menu moves from Kolkata-inspired street-style favourites to hearty festive mains and traditional sweets. Guests can look forward to comforting soups such as Murgir Jhol and Tomato Dhonepata Shorba, followed by savoury appetisers including Phulkopir Bora, Mochar Chop and the classic Kolkata Chicken Cutlet. The festival also features Kolkata-style chaat and snacks such as Babughat Chaat, Kachori with Radhaballavi Puri and Aloor Dum.
For the main course, the spread highlights signature Bengali preparations including Kolkata Mutton Biryani, Chingri Bhuna, Kosha Mangsho, Phulkopi Aloo Dalna and coconut-infused Cholar Dal. The meal concludes on a traditional sweet note with Bengali favourites such as Rasgulla, Sandesh, Mishti Doi and Patishapta.
