The Republic of Indonesia celebrated 79 years of their Independence and to celebrate this significant occasion, a dinner was hosted at the iconic Garware Club House in Mumbai on August 29th, 2024. The event saw an excellent turnout of members which included members of the Consulate, esteemed dignitaries, travel agents and the media. Indonesia and India have a lot in common in terms of history, culture, and heritage. The diplomatic ties between the two nations have strengthened over the years. Scintillating dance and instrumental performances in traditional Indonesian attire gave the audience a glimpse into the rich culture of the Indonesian archipelago. There were also a few lucky draws in which winners won air tickets and hotel stay vouchers. The musical entertainment and the ambrosial food and drinks made the evening memorable.
Addressing the gathering, Eddy Wardoyo, Consul General, Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Mumbai highlighted the strategic importance of India. He further added, “The relationship between Indonesia and India during the past years has become stronger through a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement since 2018. The ongoing friendship and the excellent relationship between India and Indonesia have been strengthened by the 3 P’s which are Peace, Prosperity and People to People relations”.
Eddy Wardoyo spoke to BOTT in an exclusive chat in which he said, “We are hosting today’s reception to commemorate and celebrate the 79th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day. The reception tonight is very special because this year Indonesia has made some changes. Our Indonesian capital will move to or it has already moved to a new capital in Kalimantan since March this year. From October 2024, Indonesia will have a new President. I am very happy our colleagues and dear Indian friends have come for this reception”.
