Indians explore Japan with longer stays and bigger budgets
Indian tourists are making a strong mark in Japan’s inbound travel market. In 2024, around 2.33 lakh Indians visited Japan, spending an estimated 56.1 billion yen (approx. ₹3,366 crore). With an impressive average stay of 16.3 nights, Indians are opting for deeper cultural immersion. Travel spend per Indian traveller rose by 53.6% from 2019, reaching 241,590 yen (approx. ₹1.45 lakh) per person, including package and on-ground expenses. This surge in both duration and expenditure highlights Japan’s rising popularity among Indian globetrotters.
