Petra Hedorfer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO): “The first GTM as a face-to-face event after two corona-induced virtual workshops confirms the high value of face-to-face meetings. 95 per cent of German suppliers had already taken part in the GTM in the past. The positive feedback from participants is also a strong signal for the recovery of German incoming tourism. 96 per cent of respondents made new business contacts, and 95 per cent intend to participate in the GTM again in the future.”
Around 160 German companies from the hotel, transportation and leisure industries, incoming services and regional tourism organizations, as well as some 200 buyers from the international travel industry including Indian buyers, used the platform from May 1-3 to negotiate offers for the coming year. To this end, they made more than 3,600 appointments via an online networking tool. In addition, around 90 journalists took part in the international press conference and the press program, which also saw active participation from the Indian Media.
“Germany Travel Mart is as an ideal platform for Indian travel trade to communicate and engage with potential regional partners, as well as strengthen their existing relationships said Romit Theophilus, Director for India, German National Tourist Office (GNTO), “Our relationship with the travel destination Germany has seen monumental growth as travellers from across India have been exploring Germany’s vast itineraries for years. The appetite of Indian nationals to visit Germany’s cultural sites, national parks, and urban destinations remains undiminished.”
The GNTB also organized the 48th GTM as a green event to reduce the event’s carbon footprint.
Background Information
The GTM is organized annually by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB) in cooperation with changing partner regions and cities. The centerpiece of the event is the workshop. Suppliers from the hotel industry, transportation, and local and regional tourism organizations present their offerings to the international trade audience – key account managers from the international travel industry from important source markets for German tourism. Participants will be able to make new contacts and deepen existing ones, hold technical discussions, and conclude business deals with German suppliers.
