Air India adjusts global network till August
Air India has announced temporary adjustments on select international routes between June and August 2026 due to continued airspace restrictions and record-high jet fuel prices. The airline said the move aims to improve network stability and reduce last-minute passenger inconvenience. Despite route reductions and temporary suspensions, Air India will continue operating over 1,200 international flights every month across five continents, while supporting affected passengers with re-accommodation, free date changes or refunds.
ixigo launches AI-Native travel app
ixigo has unveiled a new AI-native version of its app at ixigo NEXT, its flagship tech launch event. Built with AI at the core, the redesigned app aims to make travel planning more conversational, intuitive and personalised. Instead of using multiple filters and screens, travellers can use voice-based natural prompts. The experience is powered by TARA, ixigo’s multimodal AI assistant, designed to help users discover, decide and book seamlessly.
Malaysia Airlines sustains strong on-time performance
Malaysia Airlines has maintained on-time performance above 90 per cent throughout April, marking its second consecutive month above the 90 per cent level. The airline has also consistently exceeded its 85 per cent OTP target since January 2026. Backed by improved boarding processes and enhanced ground support, the airline recorded encouraging demand, with passenger traffic growing 30 per cent year-on-year in March and 8 per cent year-on-year in April.
Lufthansa to raise ITA stake to 90%
ITA Airways is set to enter a new phase within the Lufthansa Group, as Deutsche Lufthansa AG has decided to acquire an additional 49 per cent stake in the Italian carrier for €325 million. This will raise Lufthansa’s shareholding to 90 per cent, while Italy’s Ministry of Economy and Finance will retain 10 per cent. The transaction is expected to be completed in Q1 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
