
In his welcome address, Shri M. Vinod, Chapter Chairman, ADTOI Andaman Chapter, reflected on the formation and achievements of the chapter over the past year. He reiterated the association’s commitment to promoting responsible and sustainable tourism in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands while enhancing collaboration among industry partners.
A highlight of the evening was the felicitation of tourism pioneers and innovators who have contributed significantly to the growth and diversification of tourism in the region. A special tribute was paid in respectful memory of Late Shri Krishnamachari, founder of Sagar Tours and Travel, acknowledged as a pioneer of Andaman tourism for his efforts in training and empowering local youth.
Among those honoured were Shri Sheikh Umran of Andaman Sea Wonders Pvt. Ltd. for introducing water scooters at Swaraj Dweep, and Shri Mohammed Safiq of Aqua Cars for launching jet cars at Sri Vijaya Puram and Swaraj Dweep, adding new adventure offerings to the islands’ tourism portfolio.
Shri Udhay Bhasker, founder of Andaman Stargazing, was recognised for promoting astro-tourism in the islands, while the Andaman Avians Club (AAC) was felicitated for its consistent contributions to bird watching, avian conservation, education, and citizen science initiatives in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Mohammed Sajid, Treasurer, ADTOI Andaman Chapter, followed by informal interaction and high tea, marking a celebratory milestone for the chapter’s first year of operations.
