The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) celebrated its 40th anniversary with a highly successful convention in Rhodes, Greece, from October 4–7, 2026. Hosted at the Rodos Palace Hotel, the convention attracted over 400 travel professionals, making it a remarkable gathering of industry leaders, travel advisers and tourism stakeholders. Held under the theme ‘Connecting Legacies, Crafting Futures’, the event combined meaningful industry discussions with the warmth and splendour of Greek hospitality.
The inaugural evening witnessed a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between TAFI and the South Aegean Region. Signed by TAFI President Abbas Moiz and South Aegean Governor Giorgos Hatzimarkos, the agreement seeks to strengthen tourism cooperation, promote regional destinations and enhance travel opportunities between India and Greece. Indian Ambassador to Greece, Ravi Shankar, also attended the occasion.
A particularly memorable moment was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Subhash Goyal, Chairman, STIC Group, honouring his outstanding contribution and enduring legacy in India’s travel and tourism industry.
The following two days featured engaging morning business sessions addressing the changing dynamics of the travel industry. Artificial Intelligence and its practical integration into travel businesses emerged as a central focus, alongside discussions on evolving technology, travel insurance, customer service and professional development. The sessions emphasised the importance of upgrading skills and strengthening the role of travel advisers in an increasingly technology-driven marketplace.
Richard Nuttall, President, Philippine Airlines, delivered a keynote address, adding an international aviation perspective to the proceedings.
Beyond the conference halls, thoughtfully curated pre- and post-convention familiarisation tours enabled delegates to explore Greece’s cultural heritage, scenic landscapes and diverse tourism offerings. The Greek tourism fraternity proved exceptional hosts, while networking opportunities encouraged stronger business relationships between Indian and Greek travel partners.
With enthusiastic participation, enriching discussions, excellent hospitality and memorable celebrations, TAFI Convention 2026 concluded on a high note, reinforcing the Federation’s legacy while preparing its members for the future of travel.
