As part of the tourism department’s women-friendly tourism initiative, the Kerala government has chosen to launch a unique subsidy loan programme to promote entrepreneurship. The Responsible Tourism Mission and the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) will work together to implement the programme. In the presence of Minister for Women and Child Development Veena George and Public Works and Tourism P.A. Mohamed Riyas, the decision was made during a meeting held here on Tuesday.
The programme’s objective is to lend money at 4% interest to businesses that are registered under the Responsible Tourism Mission’s women-friendly programme. Approximately 18,000 individuals have already signed up for the programme. They have indicated interest in launching businesses in roughly 24 different sectors. The Tourism Minister stated that the Tourism Department has allocated ₹4 crore for the programme, which intends to guarantee loans to them subject to the KSWDC’s requirements.
KSWDC Model
According to Ms George, the KSWDC would fully support the initiative to advance women-friendly travel. Such a programme for women-owned businesses in the tourism industry will be introduced for the first time in the nation. The KSWDC will swiftly finish the project implementation procedures.
Additionally, the minister stated that collaboration with the tourism department would serve as an example for women entrepreneurs. The project activities were to be coordinated by KSWDC managing director Bindu V.C. and Responsible Tourism Mission Society chief executive officer K. Rupeshkumar.
