In the last 2 years, as the world struggled with the pandemic, how challenging was it for you to maintain the work-life balance? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Between work, socializing, parenting and running errands, the coronavirus has significantly altered the way we live our lives. Health crisis has shown a sudden shift to remote work environments as we stress the importance of social distancing. COVID-19 pandemic has altered our life and work, indoors as well as outdoors. Although I do often interpret the remote work setting as a chance to buckle down and use free time for maximum productivity, I felt overwhelmed by the number of changes in such a short period of time experimenting and achieving balance in my work life while managing the stress of Covid-19. In short, I have learned a lot about how to be patient, and respect my personal and professional life.
Have the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic presented the Tourism sector with a golden opportunity to redefine its gender balance? Going forward, will we see a paradigm shift in how Women in Travel and Tourism function, operate and grow?
Tourism has a pivotal role to play in achieving the objectives in regard to gender tourism. Tourism presents both opportunities and challenges for women, which makes the gender equality perspective highly relevant. From the opportunities perspective, tourism can contribute to gender equality by offering important employment possibilities. Travel and tourism has become one of the most important sectors in the world economy. Women are more confident and convinced about travel and the opportunities they avail for work. Being a woman, I understand the challenges but I am proud at the same time as we walk ahead despite all odds.
