Varanasi/ BOTT: There has been a tremendous increase in the number of tourists in Kashi. Since the inauguration of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on December 13, 2021, 164.6 million devotees have visited. In 2023 alone, over 85.4 million tourists visited Kashi. In the first six months of 2024, the numbers have continued to be in the millions. In light of the increasing number of tourists in Uttar Pradesh, the hotel industry in Kashi is also ready to welcome guests. The inauguration of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, and the strengthening of the basic infrastructure in Kashi have led to a record number of tourists visiting Varanasi. There is also a high likelihood of a significant increase in tourists in Varanasi during the 2025 Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Four hotels, resorts, and wellness centers have already started operations based on the MOUs signed.
Tourist Numbers in Kashi Setting Records
The number of tourists in Kashi is setting new records. Considering the increasing number of tourists and the policies of the Yogi government, the hotel industry is rapidly turning its focus towards Kashi. From the MOUs signed during Ground Breaking Ceremony 4.0, four hotels have already started operations with an investment of approximately 449 crores. These include resorts and wellness centers, providing employment to over a thousand people. Additionally, 11 hotels with an investment of 838 crores will soon commence operations, including several large and renowned hotels. The opening of these hotels is expected to create thousands of job opportunities.
Hotel Entrepreneurs Delighted to Set Up in Kashi
Near Shooltankeshwar Temple in Kashi, where the Ganga turns north, the Anandam Spiritual Wellness Center and Resort has been established. Director Udit Kumar Vasudeva mentioned that with the construction of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, along with improved connectivity and infrastructure, there was an expectation of a significant increase in the number of tourists in Varanasi, necessitating good accommodation.
