Talking about the pleasures on offer in Mammoth Lakes, Michael Vanderhurst, Director – International, Mammoth Lakes Tourism shared, “California has so much to offer than the usual that the travellers really don’t know about. We have the longest Ski season at Mammoth Lakes, from October to July and receive about 8 – 12 m of snow every year. We are at a five-hour driveable distance from Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco and just an hour away from Yosemite National Park.” Describing more about the town he said, “Mammoth Lakes has a busy calendar all year through. There is something happening every weekend – be it Summer or Winter. There is no small adventure in Mammoth Lakes. Inside the town boundary, there are 7 Lakes, which are all interconnected. There are 65 restaurants in town offering a varied option of cuisine. There is something for everyone in Mammoth Lakes.”
Jeff Simpson, Economic Development Director, Mono County California, who was also present during the interaction, highlighted the attractions at Mono County and showcased the treasures of the destination – from fall colours to hiking and fishing. “While we are a popular holiday destination for domestic travellers, we now want international tourists to include this trip in their itinerary too. India is in the top 5 markets for us and we want to showcase the treasures of our county to them,” he explains.
With so many ways to get to Mammoth Lakes from San Francisco and other parts of Northern California, there is no excuse for not visiting this amazing destination. From the dizzying heights of California’s highest ski resort at 11,053 feet to the area’s vast expanses of pristine wilderness, Mammoth Lakes is a great place to vacation while avoiding the crowds of the big cities.
