Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), New Delhi Office invited travel agents and media from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkata for a familiarization trip to Bangkok from 4th– 6th March 2020, while Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai Office invited travel agents and media from Mumbai, Pune, Vishakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Nagpur to Bangkok from 4th– 8th March 2020.
The purpose of this trip was to give the participants a first-hand experience to witness the current situation in Bangkok with reference to the Coronavirus or COVID-19 spread. This trip would help to boost confidence of the people that tourism and everyday life in Thailand is as usual and the tourism industry is looking forward to welcoming Indian travelers.
Invited agents and media attended a networking session with Mr. Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhaya, Deputy Governor of TAT for International Marketing (Asia and South Pacific) to learn about new products and attractions in Thailand that can be promoted for the upcoming summer holiday travel season. The participants got an opportunity to meet Executive of Thai Airways International (TG) as well as Thai travel agents and suppliers of tourism products in Thailand that are keen to welcome the Indian travel market.
In Bangkok both agent and media participants visited new attractions like the popular King Power Mahanakhon Skywalk, the very trendy Artbox night market and Icon Siam Mall which is called the “Mother of All Malls”, with 500 shops and 100 restaurants from more than 30 different countries. Post this the group was pampered with a relaxing Thai massage at Divana Spa and Oasis spa Bangkok.
The participants also got to experience Amazing Bangkok – a Gastronomy Paradise, as they were treated to authentic Thai food at world famous Blue Elephant restaurant, afternoon tea at the popular Thai bus food tour, dinner on the vibrant Chao Praya cruise and ended the evening with a view of Bangkok’s stunning skyline at Skybar Lebua hotel Bangkok.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to affirm tourists and travellers in Thailand and around the world that Thai authorities are implementing strict measures to prevent the spread of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the country. Thailand is working with the World Health Organization and other countries to further understand infections caused by this new coronavirus and to ensure that they are prevented and controlled so that travellers can travel worry-free around the country.
