The AGM was graced by Hon’ble MLA Gulmarg, Mr. Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Raja Wasim, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir, attended as the Guest of Honour, Representing TAFI National, Mr. Shamim Ahmed Shah, National Managing Committee Member, was also present.
The proceedings commenced with a welcome address by Chapter Chairman Mr. Burhan Misgar, who presented the Annual Report 2025–2026, highlighting the Chapter’s initiatives, activities, and achievements during the year. The Statement of Accounts was presented by Honorary Treasurer Mr. Shaqoor Sheikh and duly adopted by the members. Discussions were also held on the upcoming TAFI National Convention in Rhodes, Greece (4–7 October 2026), along with future plans and initiatives of the Chapter.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble MLA Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah appreciated the efforts of TAFI J&K Chapter in promoting tourism and representing the interests of the travel fraternity. He assured his continued support towards strengthening the tourism sector.
Mr. Raja Wasim, Joint Director Tourism, Kashmir, appreciated the proactive role played by TAFI J&K Chapter and acknowledged its constructive engagement with stakeholders. He particularly highlighted the commitment shown by TAFI in conducting its Extended National Joint Council (NJC) Meeting in Srinagar in June 2025, soon after the unfortunate Pahalgam incident. The initiative sent a positive message across the country and reflected the organisation’s confidence and solidarity with Jammu & Kashmir’s tourism sector during a challenging period.

A felicitation ceremony was organised to honour the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, representatives of various travel, tourism, hospitality, aviation, trade, and allied organisations for their valuable support and continued cooperation with the Chapter.
A special highlight of the AGM was the celebration of IndiGo Airlines’ 20th Anniversary. Mr. Showkat Amin Abbas, Sales Head, IndiGo Airlines, along with Mr. Aquib Ahmad, Sales, presented a commemorative cake to mark this milestone. Shamim Shah, National Managing Committee Member and Chairman Mr. Burhan Misgar congratulated IndiGo on completing two decades of service and appreciated the airline’s significant contribution towards improving connectivity and supporting the growth of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
The AGM witnessed the gracious presence of heads and representatives of leading trade and tourism associations, including KCC&I, J&K Hoteliers Club, CCIK, AKHBOA, TASK, JKTA, TAAK, ADTOI-JKC, IATO-JKC, TAAI-JKC, TTIG, PILTOF, DTOAK, TAFOK, ATAOK, AKTO, UTAA, Rotary Club of Kashmir, Skal International Kashmir, Skal International Jammu & Kashmir, Air India, and IndiGo. Their participation reflected the unity and shared vision of the tourism fraternity in working together for the advancement of the sector.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Honorary Treasurer Mr. Shaqoor Sheikh, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, members, guests, sponsors, and all stakeholders for their valuable presence and support.
The AGM concluded with a networking lunch, providing an opportunity for members and guests to interact, strengthen professional relationships, and reaffirm their collective commitment towards the sustainable growth of tourism in Jammu & Kashmir.
