Mr. Linder observes a significant shift in Indian preferences, with increasing interest in top-tier brands like Omega and Cartier. “Indian visitors are now gravitating toward high-end luxury brands,” he noted, contrasting this with earlier trends where affordable items like Swiss knives and mid-range watches were the focus.
What sets Kirchhofer apart is its exceptional shopping experience. Customers can purchase Swiss watches and jewellery amidst breathtaking alpine landscapes, enhancing the exclusivity of their acquisitions. Moreover, Kirchhofer’s tax refund policy allows travellers to save 15-25% compared to prices elsewhere. “Buying a Swiss watch in Switzerland is a unique and unforgettable experience,” said Mr. Linder, emphasizing the added appeal of tax benefits.
Currently, India ranks 20th globally for Swiss luxury watch imports, but Kirchhofer sees tremendous potential for growth. Mr. Linder envisions India becoming a key market, drawing parallels to China’s meteoric rise in luxury demand over the past two decades. To achieve this, Kirchhofer plans to build strategic partnerships with Indian travel agencies and tour operators. “We aim to ensure that every Indian traveller visiting Switzerland is aware of our brand and the unparalleled benefits we offer,” Linder stated, adding that the company is also exploring the appointment of a dedicated Indian representative to enhance its outreach.
Linder highlighted the importance of collaboration with Indian travel partners, aiming to educate tour leaders about Kirchhofer’s premium offerings and the advantages of shopping with the brand in Switzerland. This approach seeks to establish Kirchhofer as a preferred choice for Indian tourists in pursuit of luxury goods.
Expressing optimism about India’s luxury market, Linder remarked, “India’s expanding middle class and its enduring admiration for Switzerland make it an ideal market for us.” Kirchhofer’s proactive engagement with India signals the beginning of its journey to tap into this promising market, striving to make luxury shopping in Switzerland a memorable and sought-after experience for Indian travellers.
