The purpose of the FAM trip was to promote Sri Lanka as a key outbound destination for Indian travelers and to showcase tourism offerings with a special emphasis on the Ramayana Trail—a cultural circuit of places believed to be connected to the ancient epic. The delegation explored prominent sites such as Sigiriya, Ramboda, and Nuwara Eliya, each rich in mythology and natural beauty. The itinerary also included visits to Bentota and Colombo, providing a well-rounded experience of Sri Lanka’s coastal charm and urban hospitality.
Mr. Amol Kataria, Secretary of TAFI MP Chapter, stated, “This FAM trip was specially curated to help Indian travel agents gain firsthand experience of the Ramayana trail, which holds deep religious and cultural significance for Indian tourists. Our members are now better equipped to promote Sri Lanka with authentic insights and curated travel experiences.”
The trip concluded with a B2B networking session in Colombo, where nearly 50 Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and hotels interacted with the Indian delegation. The session provided a valuable platform for forging new partnerships and enhancing tourism ties between the two countries.
This initiative by SLTPB reflects its commitment to strengthening bilateral tourism and encouraging thematic tourism like the Ramayana trail for the Indian market.
