The Saudi Tourism Authority’s consumer brand ‘Saudi, Welcome to Arabia’ is set to transport Indian diners to the heart of Saudi gastronomy with The Saudi Table, a limited-edition culinary residency at One8 Commune, Gurgaon. Curated by celebrated chef Kunal Kapur, whose mastery of flavours and nuanced understanding of cross-cultural cuisine has made him one of India’s foremost culinary voices, the residency promises an immersive exploration of Saudi’s evolving food culture.
For centuries, the coasts and ports of the Arabian Peninsula and western India have been linked through maritime trade. Spices, grains, and culinary knowledge crossed these waters, establishing subtle yet enduring connections between the cuisines of both regions. The Saudi Table draws upon this shared heritage, offering a menu that honours centuries-old traditions while reflecting Saudi’s contemporary dining identity; confident, global in outlook, and yet deeply rooted in communal hospitality.

Guests will encounter grazing tables laden with fresh salads and mezze, featuring ingredients such as Gulf-grown za’atar, pomegranate molasses, Madinah dates, saffron, and regionally prized herbs. Small plates will highlight street and home-cooked favourites; from grilled halloumi and aubergine to stuffed chicken wings, spiced lamb koftas, and Gulf-style seafood – all designed for sharing in the communal spirit of Saudi dining. Large plates, including kabsa, mansaf, and saffron rice with seafood, will echo ceremonial traditions, while desserts such as rose-and-pistachio panna cotta, date-and-almond confections, and warm kunafa will provide a fragrant and subtly perfumed conclusion.
The residency at One8 Commune is also structured to reflect Saudi dining culture: unhurried, communal, and layered with meaning. Guests may sit, stand, or mingle as they explore the menu, designed to encourage conversation and discovery. The experience is not merely about taste; it is a gateway to understanding Saudi as a multidimensional destination, where centuries of trade, migration, and cultural exchange – particularly with India – have shaped its cuisine, markets, and hospitality.
From the tang of pomegranate in tabbouleh to the delicate aroma of saffron in festive rice, The Saudi Table is expected to offer Indian diners a window into a culture where ingredients carry history and meals are an expression of generosity and connection. Beyond the flavours, the residency will also provide a narrative of Saudi’s evolving culinary identity, highlighting its contemporary chefs, modern dining interpretations, and regional diversity; from the Hijaz coast to inland trade cities.
The public showcase will run from 12 to 17 December 2025, with access facilitated through District by Zomato. Food enthusiasts, urban travellers, and culturally curious diners are invited to explore the curated menu, witness the art of communal Saudi dining, and engage with an experience that is as much about cultural discovery as it is about exceptional gastronomy.
