Santani marks 10 years, introduces two curated wellness pathways

As Santani enters its tenth year, the award-winning wellness retreat introduces a unified wellness architecture with the launch of two distinct pathways – Refresh and Transform – offering guests a clearer, more intuitive way to engage with wellbeing at different levels of depth and personalisation.

Since opening in 2016 as Sri Lanka’s first  luxury wellness retreat, Santani has redefined modern wellbeing through its philosophy of healing the root cause. Rooted in Ayurveda and supported by modern science, Santani’s approach focuses on restoring metabolic balance, improving sleep quality, regulating the nervous system, and strengthening long-term resilience, to help guests adapt to the demands of the modern world.

The introduction of Refresh and Transform marks a strengthened commitment to this philosophy, moving away from a segmented model that distinguished between leisure and wellness stays, towards a unified, wellness-led approach. Every stay at Santani is now more deeply grounded in wellbeing, with guests choosing between a self-directed, restorative experience or a more structured, personalised journey supported by Santani’s medical and therapeutic team.

Refresh is designed for guests seeking a restorative and flexible introduction to Santani’s philosophy and health benefits. With daily therapeutic treatments, access to movement and cultural activities, and Santani’s wellness-led cuisine all included, guests are invited to move through their stay at their own rhythm within a carefully considered environment.

Transform is a more personalised and guided pathway, created for guests with specific wellness intentions who want a  focused and outcome-led experience. Beginning with an in-depth consultation, each stay is shaped around the individual’s lifestyle, health profile, and goals, informing a tailored programme that integrates therapeutic treatments, a personalised nutrition plan, and a structured daily schedule, all supported by Santani’s Ayurvedic and wellness specialists.

Both pathways are grounded in Santani’s core philosophy of healing the root cause of imbalance by working holistically across body, mind, and energy – restoring physical balance, strengthening mental clarity, and rebalancing the body’s natural energy systems. While the depth of structure may differ, the intention remains the same: to create conditions for sustainable wellbeing and allow each guest to return to a personal and enduring state of balance.

The launch comes as Santani celebrates its 10-year anniversary under the theme “10 Years in Harmony”, reflecting a decade of thoughtful, design-led wellness in the hills of Kandy, Sri Lanka. Over this time, the retreat has gained international recognition, including a MICHELIN Key from the MICHELIN Guide, placing it among the world’s most exceptional wellness experiences.

“Over the past decade, we have seen wellness travel evolve significantly,” says Founder and CEO Vickum Nawagamuwage. “What has remained constant for us is the belief that true wellbeing comes from understanding and addressing the root cause of imbalance. With the introduction of our new wellness pathways, we are not changing our philosophy, we are simply offering guests a clearer way into it, making it easier for them to find the right fit according to their wellness aspirations. Whether someone is beginning their journey or seeking deeper transformation, the intention is the same: to restore balance in a way that is sustainable.”

As the global conversation around longevity continues to grow, Santani’s approach remains grounded in something far more enduring. In Sri Lanka, the greeting Ayubowan means “may you have a long life” – a sentiment that has long shaped the retreat’s philosophy. Long before longevity became a modern pursuit, Sri Lankan Ayurveda emphasised prevention, balance, rhythm, and the intelligent adaptation of treatments to the individual. These principles remain the foundation of Santani’s work, where wellness is not a fixed programme, but an evolving process shaped around each guest. At Santani, longevity is not a trend, but the natural outcome of living in alignment with one’s body and environment.

A decade on, Santani continues to offer a quieter, more considered approach to wellness. One that values clarity over excess, and restoration over escape.
