Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has started a new initiative by the name Guwahati Heritage Walk to ensure tourists get to know about the culture, history and heritage of Guwahati. Recently, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chairman of Assam Tourism Development Corporation, recently opened the tour for visitors.
As per the latest news reports, Guwahati Heritage Walk will start from North Brook Gate of Sukreshwar Temple, which will then proceed toward Cotton College, Latasil, Jurpukhuri, Ujanbazar, Shattrakar Devaly, and will end at Raj Bhawan.
The primary objective of this tour is to showcase the heritage sites in Guwahati to domestic and foreign visitors early in the morning. ATDC Chairman launched this exclusive programme in presence of association members and also tour operators. Director of Assam Tourism Deba Kumar Mishra and ATDC Managing Director Bhaskar Phukan were also present during the event. Speaking on this occasion, Jayanta Biswas asked the government to promote this program on a larger scale.
Recently, as many 28 homestays were officially opened for tourists during the World Tourism Day, which was built under the Amr Alohi project and opened in all those favourite tourist hotspots, such as Majuli, Manas National Park, Dibru Saikhowa National Park, and Dibru Saikhowa National Park.
Further, to promote tourism in this region, the tourism department also hosted photography, write-up and short film competitions to promote the culture and heritage of this place.
