1) How important is the Indian market for Namibia, and what steps are being taken to attract travellers from this region?
The Indian market is becoming increasingly important to Namibia’s tourism growth strategy. India’s fast expanding outbound travel sector aligns exceptionally well with what Namibia offers, the vast open landscapes, pristine wilderness, immersive adventure, unique desert and safaris experiences, and diverse cultural heritage experiences.
NTB sees a strong long-term potential in the Indian outbound travel market. We intend to strengthen partnerships with key tour operators and travel agents, increasing our presence at major platforms such as the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM), and engaging in targeted media and marketing initiatives to build greater destination awareness.
2) Which are your key source markets and where does India rank?
Namibia’s key source markets remain our traditional and well-established partners, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, and South Africa. These markets consistently deliver strong visitor numbers and form the backbone of Namibia’s tourism performance. India stands out as one of our most promising emerging markets. While India is not yet among our top-tier contributors (at about 2,400 tourists in 2024) we are seeing a growth potential in the Indian market.
What message would you like to share with global travellers considering Namibia for their next holiday?
