GRAMMIE, the resto-bar by Tanveer Kwatra, belongs to the latter. On my recent visit, what stood out most was its ability to feel polished without being intimidating, stylish without trying too hard, and experimental while still remaining deeply comforting.

Built around Wafu Italian cuisine with bold Mediterranean influences, GRAMMIE brings together Japanese precision and the warmth of European dining. The menu reflects a clear food philosophy — ingredient-led cooking, live-fire techniques and flavours that are allowed to speak for themselves. There is restraint in the approach, but never a lack of character. Every element feels thoughtfully placed, whether it is the texture, seasoning, presentation or the balance of flavours.

For Tanveer Kwatra, who has spent over two decades shaping hospitality experiences across continents and luxury hotels, GRAMMIE is clearly a personal expression. His experience across Australia, Asia and his much-talked-about stint at W Goa reflects in the way the restaurant has been imagined — confident, contemporary and full of personality. Besides GRAMMIE, Tanveer also runs the Pan-Asian delivery kitchen brand Shoyu and the popular Neighbors in Goa with his wife Ginny Kohli.
The food is undoubtedly the hero here. Among the must-try dishes are the Kataifi Tart with corn, pepper and citrus ponzu, Avocado Carpaccio with burnt butter and warm soy, Crudo of Hamachi with green chilli emulsion and nori oil, Spicy Salmon Hand Rolls, Tempura Asparagus Hand Rolls, Red and Yellow Bell Pepper Arangiri, Goat Cheese Gyoza Cacio Pepe and Fire Roasted Green Asparagus. The Baked Brie with pickled chilli and hot agave is indulgent and memorable, while the Kra Pao Lamb Tsukune served with Nori Bread brings bold flavours to the table. The Bianco Yellow Chilli and Kale Pizza and Pistachio Pesto Udon Noodles further underline GRAMMIE’s ability to blend comfort with creativity. For dessert, the Pistachio Tiramisu and Dark Chocolate Gelato make for a satisfying finish.

A major highlight of the experience is Ponté Di Grammie, the restaurant’s Mediterranean-inspired summer cocktail programme. Designed as a journey through Forest, Garden, Orchard and Sea, the cocktail menu features fifteen signature creations that play with salt, citrus, herbs, fruit, smoke and texture. Among them, Wild Canopy deserves a special mention. A wild and zesty blend of Pistola Reposado, grapefruit cordial, jamun and cola kaki gori, it is refreshing, playful and beautifully balanced. It captures GRAMMIE’s spirit perfectly — familiar flavours expressed in a modern, surprising way.
Adding further to its appeal, GRAMMIE has also introduced a Sunday Brunch, making the venue more inclusive and family-friendly. With 45 dishes on the menu and children also allowed, the brunch gives guests a chance to experience the restaurant in a more relaxed, leisurely format. It is a welcome addition for families, groups and weekend diners looking for a generous spread with a refined edge.

Overall, GRAMMIE feels like a strong addition to the city’s dining landscape. It is a place that can move smoothly from power lunches to spirited evenings, from intimate meals to celebratory weekends. With thoughtful food, inventive cocktails, warm hospitality and a distinct personality, GRAMMIE manages to offer an experience that is both sophisticated and easy to enjoy.
