Festivals drive holiday travel demand across India
Festivals are increasingly shaping travel decisions among Indians, with Thomas Cook India and SOTC Travel witnessing travellers aligning holidays with Onam, Pongal, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Durga Puja, Mysore Dasara, Dussehra and Diwali. Travellers are combining festive breaks with spiritual journeys, cultural experiences, family holidays and international getaways. Domestic destinations and short-haul overseas holidays are seeing strong demand.
The Fern Hotels & Resorts signs new property in Nashik
The Fern Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of The Fern Nashik, Series by Marriott, in Nashik, Maharashtra. The upcoming 110-room property will cater to both business and leisure travellers with well-appointed rooms, all-day dining, a specialty restaurant, conference room and two banquet halls. With this addition, the group’s operational and upcoming properties in Maharashtra will increase to 58.
IHCL signs 20 hotels, opens 11 properties in Q1 FY27
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) continued its growth momentum in the first quarter of FY27 with the signing of 20 hotels and opening of 11 properties across its brand portfolio. The company now has a portfolio of 645 hotels, including a pipeline of 263 hotels. The openings included properties under Taj, SeleQtions, Gateway and Ginger across key domestic and international markets.
Etihad partners with Fastjet Zimbabwe to expand African network
Etihad Airways and Fastjet Zimbabwe have signed an MoU to establish an interline partnership, codeshare agreement and frequent flyer partnership. The collaboration will allow guests to connect to Bulawayo, Victoria Falls and Johannesburg on a single ticket. The partnership supports Etihad’s upcoming Abu Dhabi–Harare service, launching on March 24, 2027, and will make Fastjet Zimbabwe Etihad Guest’s 32nd airline partner.
