Scapia Report highlights rise of India’s ‘Micro Holiday Economy’
The traditional long annual holiday is giving way to shorter, spontaneous getaways, according to Scapia’s new Summer Travel Trends. The report notes that the average domestic trip lasted just 1.7 nights, with over one-third bookings made within three days of travel. Despite last-minute plans, 62% hotel bookings were for 4- and 5-star properties. Spiritual travel jumped 12X, while Tier-II cities drove one-third of domestic flight bookings.
BLS International wins West Bengal AB PM-JAY Card approval contract
BLS International has been awarded a contract by the Government of West Bengal, in collaboration with the National Health Authority, to serve as a Card Approver Agency for AB PM-JAY and Ayushman Vay Vandana Cards. The company will verify and approve beneficiary applications through NHA’s digital platform, covering about 8.5 crore beneficiaries across West Bengal and strengthening access to government healthcare services.
PM Modi inaugurates Jodhpur Airport’s new terminal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Jodhpur Airport’s new terminal building, developed at a cost of ₹480 crore. Designed to handle around 20 lakh passengers annually, the upgraded facility blends Rajputana-inspired architecture with modern passenger amenities. The terminal is expected to boost tourism, improve regional connectivity and support smoother travel for visitors to the Blue City, while aligning with the government’s wider push to strengthen aviation infrastructure under UDAN.
