Right now, Vistara is offering this internet connectivity for free for all passengers — regardless of economy, premium economy or business class, for a limited period of time. It is yet to fix tariff rates for its services. They have also revealed that they plan to offer similar services on its budget A320 Neo short-haul flights too.
As of now, global aircraft carriers charge around $3 to $6 (subject to the flight duration) for allowing passengers to use services such as WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook, Line for unlimited duration whereas it costs $10 to $20 for full Wi-Fi access.
India recently permitted the ability to allow airlines to offer Wi-Fi to its passengers in India. As of now, only a selected number of international flight carriers have been offering this service. Air India plans on introducing this on its flights in India but has currently put the idea on hold due to unavailability of funds.
