Launched by Polo Hotels Group, Chapter Hotels & Resorts is an upscale boutique brand built on a simple guiding principle: the place comes first. Design, food, art, music and experiences start with the destination, then get edited into a sharp, contemporary hotel. Its pools, spas and restaurants are not add-ons. They are part of the way guests read the place.
Where others have arrived to interpret the Northeast from the outside, Chapter Hotels & Resorts belongs to it: shaped by the same hills, markets and communities it welcomes guests into. It is a homegrown standard set from within, drawing on the Group’s three decades of regional operating experience.
“We called it ‘Chapter’ because every hotel opens a new part of the destination for the guest. Same brand energy, different local story. The plan is to build more soon — each with its own voice,” says Deval Tibrewalla, WTD & CEO, Hotel Polo Towers Limited.
A dynamic addition to the Polo Hotels Group portfolio, Chapter Hotels & Resorts marks a strategic expansion for the group, catering to a more younger, experience-led audience that values character, design, community and storytelling over traditional definitions of luxury. While Polo Hotels Group continues to serve guests seeking premium hospitality experiences, Chapter Hotels & Resorts introduces a fresh, vibrant and accessible approach to travel, where every stay becomes a chapter of a larger story.
Built on the belief that every journey is a story waiting to be told, Chapter Hotels & Resorts draws inspiration from the idea that life unfolds through chapters. Just as books are made of chapters, our lives are shaped by the places we go and the moments we live. Each property is thoughtfully designed to reflect the spirit of its destination, creating spaces where guests can discover, connect and belong. Because in the end, we remember the stories—not the check-ins.
Cassette kitchen & bar is where each Chapter property comes alive. Built on the region’s own ingredients — sourced from tea gardens, hill markets and local growers — the food is specific, well-made and unfussy. The name borrows the mixtape idea behind Chapter itself: a good run of flavours and moods that carry you from the first coffee of the day to the last drink of the night. The Northeast isn’t a theme here; it’s simply where the kitchen starts. Come as you are, order well, and settle in.
“Upscale is not expensive wallpaper. It is good decisions. Put the pool where the view is. Cook food from the region. Build a bar with a point of view. Keep it sharp, warm and local. That is Chapter,” says Deval Tibrewalla.
The launch comes at a time when Northeast India is emerging as one of the country’s most promising tourism frontiers, driven by improved connectivity, growing traveller interest and increased investment in destination infrastructure. Through Chapter Hotels & Resorts, Polo Hotels Group aims to shine a spotlight on destinations that have traditionally remained outside mainstream leisure itineraries, creating hospitality experiences that not only attract visitors but also contribute to local economic development, employment generation and the upskilling of hospitality talent within the region.
Backed by over three decades of hospitality expertise from Polo Hotels Group, Chapter Hotels & Resorts brings a fresh energy to Indian travel. Designed as a collection of intimate, character-driven hotels in remarkable locations, the brand debuts with Chapter Lakeside, Tripura, a 17-key property. The Neermahal Palace in the frame from the pool and most of the rooms. Opening later this year, the resort sits on the shores of Rudrasagar Lake, about 90 minutes from Agartala airport. It is the resort designed to open the many delights of Tripura to the contemporary traveller. A lake-view pool, poolside bar, all-day dining and boat transfers that make the water part of the stay.
Food is a big part of the story. The kitchen goes into Kokborok and Mui Borok traditions — herbs, river fish, bamboo shoots, banana flowers, clean and precise flavours. The bar will work with local botanicals and Tripura’s craft beverage culture. The lake stays in sight. The overall mood is easy, relaxed and cool.
The brand’s second property launch will be Chapter Resort Upper Shillong in Meghalaya, a 37-key property in the midst of paddy fields. The resort is built around the pool — the first resort in Shillong.
While the Polo Hotels Group has spent over three decades pioneering hospitality across Northeast India, Chapter Hotels & Resorts introduces a new perspective—one that is design-forward, social, experiential and unapologetically fun.
The active pipeline includes West Bengal, Nagaland and more Northeast locations: heritage assets, hill stays, cultural towns and leisure circuits that deserve sharper hotels. Each site is being tested against one question — does this place have a story guests will travel for?
The model is flexible — owned, managed and retrofit, but the standard remains consistent: upscale amenities, distinctive design, a serious food and beverage offering and a local narrative that is authentic to each property.
As Polo Hotels Group continues to expand its footprint across Northeast India, the introduction of Chapter Hotels & Resorts represents an important milestone in the group’s growth journey, strengthening its commitment to creating hospitality experiences that are rooted in culture, inspired by stories and accessible to a wider audience.
