The sessions were led by senior representatives from Sri Lanka’s tourism and aviation sectors, including diplomatic officials, industry leaders, and airline partners. The distinguished panel shared updates on destination readiness, enhanced air connectivity, accommodation capacity, and collaborative opportunities with Indian travel stakeholders.
A key highlight was Sri Lanka Tourism’s strong performance in 2025, recording a historic high of 2.36 million tourist arrivals. India emerged as the largest source market, contributing over 5.31 lakh visitors and accounting for 22.3% of total arrivals—underscoring India’s strategic importance to Sri Lanka’s tourism growth.
The awareness programmes featured presentations and interactive discussions covering Sri Lanka’s diverse tourism offerings, including leisure, culture, wellness, adventure, wildlife, MICE, and weddings. Special emphasis was placed on seamless travel facilitation, safety, and quality experiences tailored for Indian travellers.
An engaging Q&A session allowed trade and media participants to directly interact with the Sri Lankan delegation, addressing concerns and reinforcing confidence. The three-city initiative forms part of SLTPB’s broader outreach strategy to strengthen partnerships, promote positive destination messaging, and drive sustained tourist arrivals from India.
Sri Lanka Tourism reiterated its commitment to positioning the island as a preferred, year-round destination for Indian travellers, offering rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, warm hospitality, and value-driven travel experiences.
