The Ministry of Tourism’s Northern Regional Office is organizing 2nd Mahabharat Circuit Conference and Familiarization (FAM) Tour on November 4-5, 2024. After the success of the first Conference held in January 2024, this conference aims to promote the Mahabharat Circuit, focusing on destinations associated with the Mahabharata epic. The event will bring together tourism stakeholders, media, historians, and scholars to highlight and promote cultural heritage tourism in the region, showcasing Kurukshetra’s historical and spiritual significance.
The 02nd Mahabharat Circuit Conference has been inaugurated on 04th November, 2024 by Dr. Arvind Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of Heritage & Tourism, Govt. of Haryana at Karna Lake Banquet, Karnal, Haryana. Dr. Sunil Kumar, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation; Dr. R.K. Suman, Regional Director (North), Ministry of Tourism; Shri Mohan Gaurchandra Prabhu, Vice President, ISKCON; Shri PP Khanna, the past President of Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI); Col. Manbeer Choudhary, the past President, Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), among others, were also present in the Conference.
The Conference was attended by 170 Tourism Stakeholders from the various parts of the country, which include Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Hoteliers, Opinion Makers, Influencers, YouTubers, Bloggers & Vloggers, media persons, and tourism officials of Ministry of Tourism and Haryana Tourism. The discussions were held covering crucial aspects like infrastructure, accommodations, tourist amenities, and ways to increase tourist inflow to Kurukshetra. Emphasis was also placed on sustainable and responsible tourism, involving local communities, and providing training to service providers. These efforts aimed to enhance the promotion and marketing of Kurukshetra, highlighting its cultural significance while ensuring a positive and impactful tourism experience.
Mahabharat is not just an Epic but a way of life, Kurukshetra, having a pivotal role in the Mahabharata, holds immense spiritual and historical significance. This event aims to bring to light the depth and richness of Kurukshetra’s heritage, which has largely remained unexplored. Through immersive sessions and site visits, the conference will showcase the essence of Kurukshetra, drawing attention to its cultural and spiritual legacy for both domestic and international tourists.
The FAM Tour of Kurukshetra on 05th November, 2024, will familiarise the Tourism Stakeholders with the city’s various attractions including Brahm Sarovar, Sri Krishna Museum, Science Museum & Panorama, Sanhit Sarovar, Birla Mandir, ISKCON Temple. Excursions of Bhishm Kund, Jyotisar, where Lord Krishna delivered sermons of Bhagawat Gita, Sri Devi Koop Bhadra Kali Shaktipeeth Temple, Thanesar Mahadev Temple, Raja Harsh ka Tila, Sheikh Chilli Tomb in Thanesar further enhance the experience.
