The appointment was announced through an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Planning on November 4, 2026. The high-level council, chaired by Parameswaran Iyer, former CEO of NITI Aayog, brings together policymakers, industry leaders, economists and domain experts to provide strategic guidance on the state’s economic growth and development.
With 32 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, Hira will bring valuable industry insights to the council’s discussions, particularly on strengthening tourism’s contribution to Uttar Pradesh’s economy.
The council will focus on key areas such as generating employment opportunities, enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs, taking the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative forward and supporting the state’s vision of becoming a developed economy by 2047.
Through the State Transformation Commission, Uttar Pradesh aims to achieve a USD 1 trillion state economy while strengthening its long-term development roadmap.
