IndiGo would soon be launching operations on two new international routes — Delhi-Dhaka (Bangladesh) and Kolkata-Yangon (Myanmar). While the Kolkata-Yangon daily flight will start from September 20, daily flight on Delhi-Dhaka route will commence on August 22.
About the Yangon route, William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We see significant traffic coming from Yangon to the Buddhist circuit thereby enhancing economic growth and tourism in India. This new route will strengthen the cultural relationship between the two countries and will boost trade, tourism and mobility.”
About Dhaka launch, he said, “We are confident, with Dhaka being a handicraft and textile hub in Asia, enhanced connectivity will promote trade as well as tourism between India and Bangladesh.”
“IndiGo will continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers wherever they demand. It is our constant endeavour to provide more flexibility of choice to our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on-time, courteous and hassle-free service and an affordable flying experience,” he added.
Yangon will be IndiGo’s 18th international destination in a network spanning across 77 cities. IndiGo will start flights to China with a daily on the Delhi-Chengdu route from September 15. IndiGo is also likely to start flying to Guangzhou this year. Chengdu will be IndiGo’s 19th international destination and the first nonstop service between Chengdu and Delhi.
What the travel industry is waiting for IndiGo is to expand beyond Istanbul now as a one-stop to Europe. With Pakistan re-opening its airspace for overflying, the Delhi-Istanbul flight is now nonstop.
