Punjab releases first draft of ‘Wellness Tourism’ Policy
Proposing to open ‘state-of-the-art resorts which would incorporate traditional Indian methods of wellness such as Ayurveda, naturopathy, Unani, Yoga and others’, the AamAadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab has released the first draft of Wellness Tourism Policy, inviting suggestions from stakeholders. The draft policy says that the government proposes to open high-end resorts/centres promoting wellness tourism and hire qualified Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga instructors/professionals for practising traditional methods of healthcare and wellness.
Seventh edition of Bengal Travel Mart begins in Siliguri
The seventh edition of the Bengal Travel Mart (BTM) began in Siliguri on September 9 with a focus on “cross-border” tourism that will seek to exploit the potential of neighbouring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh. The three-day event is considered one of the major travel marts in the tourism industry and showcases destinations in Bengal and adjoining areas. The event is being hosted by the Eastern Himalaya Travel & Tour Operators Association (EHTTOA).
Rajkot International Airport starts functioning
Gujarat’s Rajkot International Airport has commenced its flight operations. The newly built airport is located on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway. It is 30 km away from the Rajkot City and the existing Rajkot Airport. For the convenience of passengers, the state government will operate bus service from ST bus stop to Rajkot International Airport daily, starting at 6 AM and at the interval of every two hours.
Events Industry Market to Reach $2.1 trillion
Allied Market Research published a report, titled, “Events Industry Market by Type (Music Concerts, Festivals, Sports, Exhibitions & Conferences, Corporate Events & Seminar and Others): Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2023–2032″. According to the report, the global events industry by type market was valued at $1.1 trillion in 2019, and is projected to reach $2.1 trillion by 2032, registering a CAGR of 6.4% from 2023 to 2032.
