The festival, which runs until April 14, offers visitors a visual and sensory journey into the heart of Madhya Pradesh through its art, craft, cuisine, and cultural performances.
Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary of the Tourism, Culture, and Religious Trusts & Endowments Department and Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Vikramotsav 2025 is a vibrant step toward elevating Madhya Pradesh’s stature on the cultural map of the country and beyond.
The festival boasts a fascinating array of traditional arts and crafts – from the delicate Chanderi silk sarees and vibrant Gond paintings to the natural Bagh prints and royal Zari-Zardozi embroidery. Folk art forms like Mandana painting, Khajur leaf artistry, and tribal papier-mâché from the Oraon community have also captured the attention of visitors, along with exquisite handicrafts showcased by Mrignayanee and Kharad artisans.
A feast for the senses, the event features authentic culinary experiences from Madhya Pradesh that have proven to be crowd favorites. Meanwhile, cutting-edge AR/VR installations and a holographic presentation of Baba Mahakal offer an immersive dive into the spiritual and historical narratives of the region.
The centerpiece of the event is a grand theatrical production depicting the life and legacy of Emperor Vikramaditya. Brought to life by a team of 125 performers and 50 technical crew members, the show features horses, chariots, palanquins, camels, elaborate stage design, and stunning LED visuals to captivate the audience.
Adding intellectual depth to the festivities is the “Vikram Shodh Peeth” initiative, which hosts scholarly lectures and panel discussions on the historical contributions of Emperor Vikramaditya and the significance of preserving India’s cultural heritage.
Delivering the formal vote of thanks, Madhya Pradesh’s Minister Shri Dharmendra Lodhi extended heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, artists, and guests for their contributions in making Vikramotsav 2025 a grand success.
As the celebration continues over the weekend, Vikramotsav 2025 stands as a beacon of Madhya Pradesh’s rich traditions, creative talent, and its growing appeal as a cultural and tourism hub of India.
