United Airlines has announced it will resume service to India from Newark starting on September 6, almost two months earlier than anticipated. The non-stop flights from Newark to Delhi and Mumbai have been on hold because of issues with Pakistani airspace. This issue has been resolved, hence flights will resume.
United has stated that it will also begin to offer the only West Coast non-stop flight to India from San Francisco in December. The seasonal flights will begin on the 5th of December. United has stated that the San Francisco flights are only to Delhi.
United is the only airline at this time that will offer nonstop flights from Newark to India. Many airlines have stopped flying to India due to the airspace dispute or only offer flights that have connections in Europe. The nonstop service offered by United on the West Coast will be flown using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft while the flights between Newark and Mumbai as well as Delhi will be flown using the Boeing 777 aircraft.
The airline has stated that it has dedicated 2019 to improving all areas of its customer service, including providing nonstop flights to high-demand destinations. United believes that by improving its service, the carrier is standing up to its motto ‘Connecting People- Uniting the World’.
Passengers from India who arrive in San Francisco will have the ability to connect to over 80 different cities in the United States. This gives travelers streamlined service to reach any area of the country once they arrive in the United States. United has not stated when the San Francisco flights will stop or if it will change from a seasonal flight to a permanent route should demand remain high for this service.
