Hosted by H.E. Mr. Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to India, and Mrs. Fazilet Ersoy, the evening brought together around 500 guests. They included senior Indian government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and business leaders, along with friends of Türkiye from the worlds of culture, media and tourism.
The Republic of Türkiye was proclaimed on 29th October 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The anniversary is celebrated every year across Türkiye and by Turkish missions around the world as the country’s most significant national day. This year’s celebration in New Delhi reflected that spirit at a meaningful time for India–Türkiye relations, as people-to-people ties, trade and travel between the two countries continue to grow.

The reception was graced by Alpana Dubey, Joint Secretary (Southern Europe) in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Türkiye’s culinary heritage was at the heart of the evening. Guests enjoyed a spread of Turkish classics including Turkish doner and kebap, olive oil mezzes, börek, baklava and Turkish delight, prepared by Turkish chefs. In a relaxed and convivial setting, guests had the chance to meet His Excellency and connect with one another over conversations on culture, travel and the growing friendship between the two nations.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Mr. Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to India, said, “ It is a great pleasure to welcome you tonight as we celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. For over a century, our Republic served as a resilient bridge between continents, cultures, and civilizations, dedicated to global cooperation and mutual respect. We are deeply honored by your presence, which highlights the strong bonds of friendship that connect our nations. ”
Interest in Türkiye among Indian travellers continues to rise, with approximately 136,000 Indian visitors between January and August 2026. Direct connectivity via Turkish Airlines, a diverse cultural and natural offering, and growing recognition as a destination for MICE, weddings and leisure travel continue to strengthen Türkiye’s position in the Indian market.
The reception was a fitting tribute to the Republic’s 103-year journey and to the warmth of the friendship between Türkiye and India.
