The year 2024
2024 has been a phenomenal, as we received two million Indian travellers to Thailand in a year setting a new record. We expected this five years ago where we had almost reached these numbers. However, due to Covid we could not reach those numbers. Last year, we achieved that remarkable milestone for which we would like to thank our Indian partners, OTA as well as the media as they helped us achieve it
Hidden gems
The major tourist destinations in Thailand attract majority of the Indian travellers but we are now creating an awareness regarding the other two-tier cities which we call as the ‘Hidden gems’. Chiang Rai, cities in the north-eastern part of Thailand like Udon Thani as well as cities in the southern part of Thailand are ready to receive more tourists. Some of these hidden gems have good flight connectivity as well, making it quite accessible. We want to encourage the tour operators to explore more of these hidden gems in Thailand as they too are equally beautiful. We received two million Indian visitors in Thailand but they have visited only five or six of the major destinations which makes them very crowded. Along with Indian tourists, we also receive Chinese and European tourists who want to visit Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Samui but we feel that they should also explore the other destinations in Thailand as they too have a lot to offer.
Target for 2025
This year, we expect to receive 2.5 million visitors from India with the help of good air connectivity. There are so many Indian airlines flying to Thailand, not just to Bangkok but also to other destinations such as Phuket, Krabi. We wish to encourage them to develop good connectivity to the northern part of Thailand as well.
