The event ‘Welcome back to Thailand with Amazing New Chapters’ focused on updating the media on Thailand re-opening including flights from India, visa process, SOP for tourists, requirements to visit Thailand as well as steps taken by the tourism authorities and Thai government to ensure high standards of health and safety measures for tourists and local tourism representatives in Thailand.
After bring welcomed and introduced by Ms. Pinki Arora, Marketing Representative North & East India, Bangladesh & Nepal, Tourism Authority of Thailand New Delhi, the afternoon commenced with an opening remark by H.E. Ms Pattarat Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, who gave an overview of Thailand looking forward to welcoming back Indian tourists. She explained the guidelines and protocols that needs to be followed by tourists who are planning to visit Thailand after reopening of the scheduled international flights.
This was followed with an address by Mr. Tanes Petsuwan, Deputy Governor for Asia & South Pacific region, Tourism Authority of Thailand. Mr. Thanes Petsuwan highlighted the “Visit Thailand Year 2022” with TAT’s marketing campaign theme of “Amazing New Chapters” to welcome back tourists to Thailand with new perspectives and experiences. Mr. Vachirachai Sirisumpan, Director TAT, New Delhi was also present on the occasion to clear any doubts regarding Indians travelling to Thailand.
The media briefing also included presentations and tourism updates by Thai Airways International, Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), Thai Hotel Association (THA) and Thai Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). Mr. Nitin Sachdeva, Director – India Representative Office, explained through his presentation how Thailand is an amazing destination for MICE and has plenty of venues to cater to all segments of the India market. It is also an ideal destination wedding place and now with the pandemic inching towards an endemic, Indians can once again start planning their events and weddings in Thailand.
Post the briefing the media got an opportunity of savour authentic Thai street food at the Embassy lawns.
As Thailand once again prepares to welcome back tourists from all over the world, this event was a great way to connect with the Indian travel trade as well as directly to Indian travellers and inform them of the latest updates and SOP’s related to tourism in Thailand.
