In a recent development, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has given the nod to Suman Billa IAS (KL:96) to take up the role of Additional Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India. Concurrently, Rakesh Verma IAS (PB:93) has been appointed as Additional Secretary for the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation.
Billa brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having previously served at the MoT as Joint Secretary and as the Secretary for Kerala Tourism. He has also served as Commissioner for Commercial Taxes in the Government of Kerala. A member of the 1996 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Billa is an alumnus of Madras Christian College and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Additionally, he has been recognised as a British Chevening Gurukula Scholar at the prestigious London School of Economics.
