SpiceJet is moving in on the grounded Jet Airways’ assets and business,both.It launched a business-budget hybird flight service called SpiceBiz using ten Boeing 737s it acquired from Jet.
The bookings for SpiceBiz are open for flights from May 11. SpiceJet has already reconfigured the acquired Boeing aircraft into twin business class, and economy. The Gurgaon-based low cost airline claims that it is the first such offering in the country,which provides elements of luxury within budget.
Jet’s closure has left a lacuna in the premium side of the airline business, as it was known for its first-class business service.
Spice’s hybrid service will offer twin seats, gourmet meals and beverages, priority check-in and boarding,
lounge access, along with options for excess baggage.
Spice, which is already operating 20 of B737s acquired from Jet, plans to increase this number to 22. In the future, it could operate 40 such.
