The trainings, held across Tier I, II and III cities, were witness to a series of destination webinars with an emphasis on the diversification of tourism in Peru. The objective of these trainings was to introduce to the Indian market Peru as the “richest” destination in the world – “rich” in the wide gamut of experiences available to each and every kind of traveler.
The webinar series, which included a detailed presentation on Peru beyond Machu Picchu and an exhaustive question-answer session with the Travel Trade, was conducted by Mr. Luis Cabello, Trade and Tourism Counsellor, and Ms. Aromica Bhattacharya, Specialist in Tourism, from PROMPERU India Office. A total of six sessions were held in the entire length and breadth of the country, and an attendance of more than 1000 travel agents and tour operators was observed to have participated, belonging to a total of 23 cities across India. As the tourism industry attempts to make regain strength globally after Covid-19, Peru is adopting to innovative measures to entice tourists back to the richest country in the world- Peru!
Peru has one of the largest varieties of biodiversity in the world with 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Peru’s award-winning experiences have a story to tell with their art and culture. Focusing on only a few of the tourist destinations in Peru, the award-winning gastronomy (Peru has been awarded the World´s Best Culinary Destination at the World Travel Awards for eight years in a row), art, culture and history were showcased for all to witness. Given the geographical characteristics of the country, all degrees and types of adventure activities are available to the enthusiasts – an aspect which was highlighted in these sessions.
