Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the ultra-luxurious seafront sanctuary in Southern Thailand’s Krabi province, has reaffirmed its commitment to crafting unparalleled guest experiences and delivering the highest levels of service excellence, with the signing of an important new partnership that will help to develop the next generation of Phulay Bay Butlers. This blissful beachside resort, which recently became one of the first MICHELIN three key hotels in Thailand, has officially launched its new Phulay Bay Butler Academy program in partnership with Thaksin University in Songkhla province, Southern Thailand. This initiative is designed to create valuable career opportunities for talented young people, while also ensuring that Phulay Bay’s unique service philosophy continues to underpin and elevate every guest journey.
An immersive 12-month program will enable students to learn the art of being a Phulay Bay Butler. They will be taught not only how to provide personal services, such as making reservations and coordinating logistics, but also how to be local experts, gifted storytellers, wine connoisseurs, gastronomy & mixology experts, and wellness aficionados who can weave unique skills and interesting tales into every stage of the guest journey. Moreover, they will be friendly faces who can offer words of kindness and courtesy. Always available but never intrusive, they will be able to anticipate and meet the needs of guests in a way that is intuitive and seemingly effortless.
The course will comprise both classroom and practical learning, including a phase at Phulay Bay where the young apprentices will receive hands-on training from the professional team of Phulay Bay Butlers. They include Somporn Keabook (or “Khun Yid” as he is affectionately known), the resort’s Head Butler who has been with the property since its pre-opening and has perfected the art of butler service. A native of Krabi, Khun Yid has a deep-rooted connection to this locale which allows him to share the secrets of the region, from hidden beaches and untouched islands to culinary gems and master artisans. He is also committed to delivering cherished moments by understanding the unique needs of each guest, and treating them with thought, care and love.
“For me, creating memories is not just about service. It touches my heart and beautifies my life experience,” Khun Yid shares. “At Phulay Bay, we believe that luxury is defined by the people who create it. And in the world of bespoke service, our Phulay Bay Butlers – exemplified by Khun Yid – deliver a style of hospitality that transcends star ratings and transforms every stay into a deeply personalized journey. Our new Phulay Bay Butler Academy program with Thaksin University will ensure that we maintain the highest levels of professionalism at our resort, while also creating valuable career opportunities for talented young people in Southern Thailand,” said Vidya Sagar, the resort’s General Manager. The formation of the Phulay Bay Butler Academy reflects the resort’s commitment to upholding the values of the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand, and of a MICHELIN three key hotel, only 14 of which exist in Asia. According to MICHELIN, three key hotels are “all about astonishment and indulgence – ultimate in comfort and service, style and elegance.” The new Phulay Bay Butler Academy” program will ensure that the resort continues to achieve these standards for many years to come.
