Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, the recently appointed Civil Aviation Minister, has decided to tackle the issue of rising air ticket prices. In a statement to the media on Tuesday, Naidu expressed his concern over the escalating costs of air travel and outlined his plan to assess the situation. Acknowledging the complexity of the issue, Naidu emphasized his intention to consult with various stakeholders before making any decisions. He underscored his commitment to prioritizing the interests of the common man in all regulatory measures taken by his department.
Naidu highlighted his focus on expediting pending projects in his home state of Andhra Pradesh. He reiterated that the welfare of the common citizen would remain central to his policy agenda.
Under current regulations, air fares are deregulated, with airlines required to set reasonable tariffs and provide transparent information on fare structures. While airlines must adhere to sector-wise fare disclosures on their websites, fares within a specified range are deemed compliant with existing rules.
Naidu’s pledge to address high air ticket prices signals a proactive approach to ensuring affordable air travel for the public and underscores the government’s commitment to consumer welfare in the aviation sector.
