Munnar, a hill station in Kerala, is now firmly on the world tourism map after being named one of Asia’s best rural getaways for 2025. Agoda, a multinational travel website, is responsible for the accolade. Munnar has long been a favoured destination for slow-moving tourists and nature lovers because of its undulating tea gardens, mist-covered valleys, and moderate climate. The region’s natural attractiveness and relaxed pace are attracting tourists who prefer picturesque retreats to congested city holidays.
Munnar, which is in the Western Ghats, provides a panorama of waterfalls, tea plantations, and wooded hills. For those looking for leisurely travel and outdoor activities like hiking, birdwatching, and boating, the town’s laid-back vibe is perfect. The rare Neelakurinji flower, which blooms there once every twelve years and gives the hills a blue tint, is also found there.
Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, tea plantations & Tata Tea Museum, and Attukal Waterfalls are some of Munnar’s main attractions.Although Munnar enjoys a pleasant environment most of the year, September through March are the best months to visit because of the mild, clear weather. While monsoon (July and August) brings heavy rains that give the hills a vibrant green colour but might restrict outdoor activities, summer (April to June) is also a popular time to visit a hill station to escape the heat in other regions of India.
