Moustache Group of Hotels has launched Moustache Hostel Nainital and Moustache Select Nainital, expanding in one of Uttarakhand’s most familiar hill destinations while also making a clearer statement about how its brand is now structured. For the first time in India, it is demonstrating in a clear, on-ground way how its two hospitality formats are designed to serve distinct travellers with different needs, budgets, and expectations.
That makes Nainital a fitting place for this dual launch. The town remains one of the best-known hill stations in Uttarakhand, centred around Naini Lake and linked closely to attractions such as Mall Road, the Naina Devi Temple and Eco Cave Gardens. It draws leisure travellers across seasons, but the summer months are especially important. Travel guidance for Nainital points to March to June as the strongest travel window, with May and June standing out as peak summer months because of clear weather, boating, sightseeing and school holiday demand.
The new properties respond to that demand from two different directions.

Moustache Hostel Nainital is built around the social, shared side of travel. Set in the hills, it brings together private rooms and dorms for backpackers, solo travellers and small groups. The stay is shaped by common spaces, valley views, bonfires, games, movie nights and live music evenings, which is in line with the community-led format that has long defined the Moustache hostel experience. It is the kind of stay meant for travellers who want to meet people as much as they want to see the destination.

Moustache Select Nainital, on the other hand, is clearly positioned for a different kind of guest. Located on Mall Road and overlooking Naini Lake, the property is built around convenience, comfort and location perfect for families and group travels. It offers lake-facing rooms, an in-house restaurant, modern amenities and one feature that carries real value in Nainital: dedicated in-house parking on Mall Road, which remains rare in the area. Its appeal is easy to understand for families, couples and longer-stay guests who want to be in the middle of town without giving up comfort.
Abhishek Khandelwal, Founder and Director, Moustache Group of Hotels, said, “Nainital gets many kinds of travellers, and that is exactly why launching two formats here made sense for us. The hostel speaks to people who want a social, easy-going stay with strong community energy, while Select is meant for guests who are looking for comfort, views and a more private experience in the centre of town.”
Deepak Agarwal, Co-Founder and Director, added, “As the company grows, it is important that each vertical has a clear identity. We do not want every property to say the same thing. In Nainital, the distinction becomes visible. One property is built around shared experiences and informal travel, and the other around convenience, premium comfort and location.”
Originally known for its hostels, Moustache has steadily expanded into multiple stay formats, including Select and Luxuria. With the launch of these two properties in Nainital, the group’s total operating count has now reached 21 Hostels and 11 Select properties. By opening both formats in the same destination, the company makes that shift easier to understand. The message is subtle but clear: the destination may be the same, but the stay experience is not.
