The Ministry of Tourism recently participated at the three day long World Travel Market (WTM) from November 4 – 6, 2019 in London, UK. The theme this year for India Pavilion at the event was ‘Incredible India – Find the Incredible India’. A total of 32 stakeholders, including State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, Air India, IRCTC, Hotels, Wellness resorts and tour operators participated as co-exhibitors in the India Pavilion.
During the three days of the event, a number of activities, including cultural programmes, Yoga demonstration, Henna application, Indian Food tasting, Turban tying, Saree tying, etc. were organised at the India Pavilion. Besides showcasing India’s various tourism products, this year, the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the Statue of Unity were the major highlights that were being promoted and publicised in the India Pavilion at WTM 2019.
Secretary of Union Ministry of Tourism Shri Yogendra Tripathi led the official delegation at WTM 2019, which also includes Additional Director General (Tourism) Ms. Rupinder Brar. India Pavilion at WTM 2019 was inaugurated on November 4, 2019 by the Secretary (Tourism) and High Commissioner of India to the UK Ms. Ruchi Ghanashyam.
Marking its presence at the event, BOTT India also released and circulated its WTM Special Book – 21 Hidden Gems of India. The Book, printed and Published by More Media, was widely distributed to not just the officials and exhibitors present in the India pavilion but also various Foreign Tour Operators and International Exhibitors present at the Event. “It’s an interesting Book with good quality content that talks about the hidden touristy treasures of India. The pictures in the book are extremely captivating and it’s a must-have publication for those to wish to see the lesser seen in India,” shared Rajeev Kohli, Joint Managing Director, Creative Travel.
